Microsites offer content highly segmented to a specific audience. It is kind of a branded content site, differentiated from the main website of the brand. It has a different domain (or subdomain), different navigation, etc than the main one. Therefore, microsites are really useful as a marketing tool for raising brand awareness (in general terms).

Landing pages have more specific goals. They are pages inside the main site of the brand, to which the consumer is directed for a specific CTA. While a microsite can have more than one page (usually around 3), a landing page is only one. It’s useful for directing the attention towards one specific product/ service/ action.

SEO does not only take into account lnikbuilding practices but also the quality of the content published. You can have as many websites as you want linking yours, but if the content is not good in essence, it’s not going to get the desirable SEO position.
The content has to be clear, as the clearer it is, the easier it’s for Google to index it.
The content has to be original. Copying or stealing will rank your content poorly.
It has to be as viral as it can get.
SEO values storytelling, because it’s a highly effective technique for engaging users.

Both a web app and a responsive web are designed to work on any device (smartphone, tablet, laptop..). They both are accessed through a web browser.
The main difference is that a responsive websites use different technologies to be created, and such technologies allow the programmer to not having to do any coding changes for the different devices, whereas for the web app those changes have to be made.
In terms of SEO, the responsive webs rank higher (they are also more expensive to build) and I would guess that’s because the content displays faster.

“The water diviner” is an Under Armour project which features Michael Phelps’ routine. I think it’s great, because they are not directly advertising any of their products but the idea they want people to get from their brand.
