Facebook’s reputation has been on the rock for a couple of years now. This is not the first scandal they have been in. However, what is impressive is the fact that users decide to stay on such networks full well knowing the negative practices that the company partakes in. This, in a way, shows how little users care about the information that they provide such companies and how they do not care what they do with it. Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp happen to be some of the most used apps in the world. Not only that, but they are used to create content, but also in order to communicate with one and other. Furthermore, this crash resulted in a major economic loss for Facebook, as many people use Facebook Business Suite for their companies and not being able to access it definitely impacted them. It will be interesting to see in the future how people will react if this ever happened again or if they will change the way they use social media if another scandal were to happen.

The use of hashtags is a way to get to the audience as the content is categorized. Using long-tail hashtags could be a big selling factor for small businesses as they would be using more specific hashtags for their product, depending on what it is. An example for that could be an ecological, plant based roll-on deodorant. For this, you will not use hashtags such as #deodorant because you will get everything single product on the market, you will use things such as #ecologicaldeodorant #plantbasedrollon. This could then get them more visibility which could then mean more sells.

The way people market their product or brand is constantly changing as it is always evolving. Nowadays, it is much more important for people to see their likes and interests in advertisement, and not from a mass media aspect. This last one consist on the 360º approach in which companies can reach a large amount of people, either their target audience or not, and then become more visible. From this approach and constant change in marketing there has been a new theory called 6º marketing, in which brands have more specific information about their intended target audience. Not only that but, people rather see quality over quantity, as they have created busy lives and have little to no time or rather reduced attention spam when it comes to advertisement. With this change in people and information gather from the public, such as their location, their education, and so on, companies can then target them more specifically and then interact with them and vise versa. This result in costumers interaction can be either good or bad with the content that is being posted and maybe feel like they are part of a community.

If social media used blockchain, it would be almost near impossible to hack someone’s account, as it would be known thanks to the way the information is stored in each block, but also the spread of one’s information. Not only that, but it could also delete fake accounts created for trolling or bought accounts and likes used by certain influencers.
In addition to that, it also verifies the information that is being provided, which could reduce the use of spam accounts, and also reducing the use of false information within journalism or advertising. Blockchain can also be used in order to cut down the reposting and stealing of other people’s content, such as music or other type of content.
