I find this to be a very interesting subject to talk about. It is something that clearly affected us all, to some more than others. In just a few hours of not being able to be connected through these platforms, we understood how we need them in our lives. As Andrea Arocha says, we are so dependent that we had to go and use other platforms to fill that void that Facebook left us for a few hours. In my case, I also took the time to think about my dependency and what I could do about it. We should focus on battling this problem and start organizing our time spent on these platforms, combining it with other things that also matter in our lives.

Is this going to affect Facebook on a big scale? I personally don’t think it will, of course they lost money, but we will all continue using it very consistently and it is normal that sometimes their system fails and they suffer these kind of problems. I do not think it is a big deal and we should focus more on how it has affected us emotionally, the fact that we can’t “live” without it, even if it’s for a few hours.

3.Which relationship do you find between the long tail theory and the Pareto Principle, also called Pareto Law or 80/20 rule?

I consider that both the Pareto Law and the Long Tail Theory share some things in common. The Pareto Law explains that if you make 20% of effort you will achieve 80% of results. And if you make 80% of effort yo will achieve 20% of results. On the other hand, the Long Tail Theory focuses on more specific searches, more conversion rate, more qualified traffic but also less traffic and less competition. This means that it is going to focus on getting 20% of users to achieve 80% of sales and valuable visits and the Generic will focus on 80% of visits and will only achieve 20% of sales or valuable visits.

Alba Pastor makes a great point of the opinion my colleague Carmen Arranz makes about freedom and blockchain. I totally agree with the fact that in order to provide us with more security and transparency, we will be more controlled and therefore as Alba says, being “monitorized” is not being free. So, I’m asking, what do we prefer? security or freedom?

I agree with all of my colleagues and their different points of view. Blockchain towards digital communication in general provides security and transparency. It is a technology where all kind of activity is recorded and where information cannot be manipulated. Then when using it, users will have more confidence because there will be no fraud of any kind. The fact that it is decentralized is a very positive point, for example if someone wants to make a transaction to create an ad anywhere, doing it through blockchain will always be very safe as information is stored in many different places. It is a very secure network. I completely agree with Luis Sánchez opinion, as he mentions that it will avoid fraud on advertisement and that is very important as we are all constantly consuming advertising even without knowing we are, specially on social media.
